For those of you who have not yet begun to live, aka lived in Texas, these are pictures of my hometown Fort Worth and Drew's hometown Dallas!
We are flying home next week to see our family and go to grandma's memorial service. It is a sad reason to have to be going but I know Drew and I can't help but be excited that we get to see our families and love them through this time! The closer it gets the more I am busting at the seems to go! I really love Kentucky and all that the Lord has blessed us with here... but I really really love Texas and miss all that it contains (family, friends, college, flipflops etc).

Yesterday we found out that Drew's grandmother has passed away. This is Drew's dad's mom. She has been aging rapidly since the death of her husband a few years ago and from what I have heard has had many complications. Her memory was the thing that I think I (and we all) missed the most in her because I never really got to know her, nor her me. She was not able to access her short term memory and thus felt that she was constantly neglected by the family, who really loved her and visited her on a constant basis. Though we are thankful that she is no longer suffering and perhaps now knows the love that she had here, we are so sad to have lost her. We especially want to lift up Drew's dad because this was his mother and we all know his heart is grieving the loss of his parents; you never outgrow your parents. Please pray that Drew's parents will have time to get things done that have to be done and to also take time for their own hearts.. all while running a business. Pray for the peace of the family and the salvation of anyone who has been resistant to the Lord.
Also, please pray for Drew. It is hard for Drew to see his dad so sorrowful and not be able to be near. He is also sick. Drew never gets sick but has some sort of cold or flu. We are taking preventative steps but he is really worn out. We will also be traveling home for the memorial service in a few weeks and need prayers for sensitivity and favor at work and school to be able to take the time away.
This is sort of a downer... but such is life.
May God be glorified in every circumstance.

Things You Learn In Seminary

So I thought since I am currently priveledged to be going to the best theological seminary in the world that I should be imparting the wisdom I receive to those of you who are less fortunate than I.... hahaha
Week One:
1. Sonic Gift cards make handy ice scrapers
2. There is a type of poetry where each poem excludes one letter of the alphabet for the entire work
3. It is possible to do a lap around the entire school in the time it would take a person to walk from the MSC to Blocker
4. I am invisible... also known as a girl going for the MDIV in a Southern Baptist Seminary
5. Seminary doesn't have to close for snow days because they know we are all predestined to be there anyways
A. Heavy snow fall is not as fun with out snow days...
6. I am still a procrastinator
7. Seminary has it's own style manual (as if all the styles we learned through high school and then the other styles we learned in college weren't sufficient) and it's own sense of humor.
8. It gets colder when the sun comes out
9. Angels sit at mall fountains
10. There is a stoll that has pink on it... do I hear degree change?!
BONUS: It has become evident to me that I was predestined to go here because... they cater chickfila to school functions!
Well, some of these are lame, but that is my week. I did however manage to ace my first Greek quiz, turn in 35 pages of writing for my JTerm, make it to every class on time and succeed in never being spoken to by a male in my class. I am the only person on campus that carries a large pink purse, writes in pink spirals and wears pink clothing on a daily basis... that is really how my friends identify me from afar.

How's Drew??? He's asleep....

He's the man!!

Brag time. I have to post this about my magnificent husband because I know he would never tell anyone how wonderful he is... he almost didn't tell me!! So he is about to wrap up his first full month of work at Enterprize and he has really been worried about all their numbers and statistics that they do because that is what keeps you hired and/or what gets you promoted. We have been praying for the Lord to really relieve him of this burden and help him to trust more... so Drew took a step and stopped worrying about it. Well, yesterday they voted who was the best employee at their branch (this weird thing they do on Mondays that goes to the head guys) and Drew was voted #1 for the THIRD week in a row!!! WOW! Then, if that isn't enough to blow your socks off they also got the monthly report/stats yesterday for all of Kentucky and Southern Indiana and the top five sellers and what not are in red... well guess who was number ONE... that's right... DREW!! He was also number five because his store actually runs two stores... so he was number 1 for the bigger store and number 5 for the smaller store!! Isn't that amazing.. I literally couldn't believe how the Lord is working through Drew and granting us both favor in our worldly jobs! So not only is he an amazing husband and godly man but he is NUMBER ONE at his job! Wow, ladies I don't think you can top this one!!


Also, this past Sunday we got to help serve communion at our church. It was really an amazing experience. I got to hold the bread and Drew held the juice and wine and people came up and took a piece of bread and dip it in the wine or bread. When they took the bread I would say, "This is Christ's body, broken for you". Wow, saying that over and over made it really resound in my mind and heart. It struck me how deep this love was for me... and not just for me but for each of us. I felt the Holy Spirit inside of me and it was like it was him and not me saying "for YOU" to each person. I felt a connection and love for each person and a deep desire for them to understand that it really was broken specifically for THEM... that if they were the only one in line we would still say it just for them... he would still sacrifice himself for them. Wow, I can't really express it in words. It just gave me such a love for the Church and for those who are seeking and hurting and need to know that Christ's body was broken for THEM! Do you know that Christ's body was broken for you?!

It's A Turduckin!!

Somehow during the Christmas (actually Christmas Eve) dinner with my family the Turduckin came into play. I had never heard of such a food and now will be quite happy to finish my existence acting as if I never knew of such an item. Apparently it is a turkey with a duck inside of it and the duck has a chicken inside of it... now I am sure this is very yummy when made by some one on the Food Network, but I am also sure that when it is a ball of processed meat inside ball after ball of processed meat as my sister described it that I would be found yacking shortly after introduction! My family has this weird quirk that whatever is the inside joke for the holiday is what everyone got for Christmas that year. So no matter what size present you get, before you open it some one will make the joke that it is a Turduckin! It actually is hilarious when it's late and you are full and your cheeks and sides hurt from laughing at too many dad jokes! Usually we all joke about having records and stuff because my mom always buys us calendars but really there is no sense to it all, just good ole Thompson humour. It's really fun then because when we went to the Lewis family Christmas we were able to successfully tell the joke and no one but us thought it was funny or even heard us for that matter.
So other than the Turduckin there was more to our trip home. I had been counting down the days and it was worth it. We had a fabulous time! We saw both of our families several times over the week and got to go on a fabulous bike ride in the 70 degree Tyler winter with our friends Joe and Emily, it was good to see them since we talk about them all the time. We also stayed with Devon and David, who we also speak of frequently, and it was great to laugh with them again... they are hilarious! We also saw the Nativity which I really enjoyed and I chopped off my hair over 8 inches! No pictures yet b/c I of course don't really like it yet and haven't figured out how to fix it. I really prefer it long and think that's the only way it likes to be, but with an actual (or at least what I thought would be) winter there is too many layers and static to go on with two feet of hair, so when I decided to cut it I thought why not go all the way and donate it to a good cause... so I did. I hope they like it because I'm not enjoying my own results... oh well!
My lil sis and Drew's big bro are now here in KY with us seein' the sites of louisville, thrilling I'm sure!! We have a big party at Drew's work, my bday and then school starts. Life is not as fun with jobs and school... I liked the honeymoon days better! Now begins the period of disillusionment I'm told, thanks.
